Covid-19-positive patients in Italy might face heavy fines or prison if they break quarantine, it has emerged today.
Those infected with the potentially deadly virus are being asked to remain isolated, or face fines of up to 3,000 euro and/or five years in prison if they venture outside.
The Italian Government introduced the new measures amidst an out-of-control outbreak of the coronavirus across the country, with almost 70,000 confirmed infections and nearly 7,000 deaths so far.
