Coronavirus was diagnosed in more than 60,000 people in the United States after another 5,000 people tested positive for Covid-19 in New York. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo read the latest figures at his daily press conference on Wednesday.
Almost half of the 12,000 tests performed since yesterday were positive.
New York State now has 30,000 coronavirus patients, ten times more than the next most affected state, New Jersey. New York City has 17,000 cases, Westchester County 4,000, and Nassau County 3,000 diagnoses.
Recent updates to Cuomo have raised fears that more cases of coronavirus will occur in the United States in the coming days than in any other country in the world, surpassing the 81,218 cases reported by China.
