Coronavirus: Delta and American, two the world’s largest airlines, announce greatly reduced flight schedules due to plunging bookings

Delta and American Airlines have announced deep cuts both to their domestic and international flight schedules due to rapidly dwindling bookings.

Delta said it will slash its international flights between 20% to 25%, and its domestic flights by between 10%-15%.

Meanwhile, American Airlines confirmed that it would cut its international flights by 10% this summer and reduce its domestic schedule by 7.5% over the month of April at least.

The coronavirus epidemic has taken a heavy toll on the travel industry worldwide. Regional airline Flybe recently collapsed due to ongoing financial issues and a sharp decline in bookings.
