The number of people who have now died in Italy by the coronavirus epidemic has increased by 25% in the past 24 hours.
Authorities have confirmed 250 more deaths on Friday, bringing the country’s total to 1,266.
This is the largest increase since the start of the epidemic, the civil protection agency have announced. The authority say that they believe the stringent lockdown will work.
