Coronavirus: New data suggests that Covid-19’s death toll might be up to 20% higher than suggested by official figures issued by the NHS

New data compiled by the Office for National Statistics suggests that Covid-19’s death toll might be up to 20% higher than suggested by the official figures issued by the NHS.

The assertion, made today in an article published by Metro, found that an undetermined number of deaths might not have been included in the official tally because the death certificate didn’t specifically mention ‘Covid-19.’

In other words, people who might have died from ‘complications’ arising from Covid-19 infection might not have been counted. It also emerged that people who died outside hospital surroundings might also not have been counted.

As of March 31, the ‘official’ number of Covid-19 deaths in the UK stands at 1,651.
