The coronavirus is spreading across New York like wildfire. Medical authorities there have reported no fewer than 5,000 new cases over the last 24h, thus marking the largest single-day increase since the crisis began.
The official number of Covid-19 infections in New York now stands at over 30,000, though the true figure is probably far higher.
It is understood that around 3% of people infected are in intensive care.
