Those people who defy quarantine or isolation rules might face jail time of a £1,000 fine, it has emerged today, as the British Government announces tougher measures to deal with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will chair a COBRA meeting this afternoon to discuss a raft of new measures aimed at tackling the quickly worsening coronavirus situation. Among these, people who do not abide by quarantine or isolation rules might face tough punishment.
There have been 1,372 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the UK, with 54 deaths so far.
