The United States has now set a grim record, after health authorities there reported over 2,000 Covid-19-related deaths in a single day.
A total of 2,108 deaths were reported, bringing the official death toll to 18,586.
Over 100,000 people have now died from complications arising from Covid-19 infection worldwide.
