It has emerged that Coronation Street star Simon Gregson is taking time away from the soap in order to recover from an illness. The 40-year-old actor plays the popular Steve McDonald. It is not known when he will return.
Gregson is currently expecting his third child with wife Emma. The actor was last on set two weeks ago but has choose not to take part in the live special.
The Corrie star last tweeted a few weeks ago on September 6, raising awareness for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
No details have yet emerged as to how Steve will be written out of the soap. However it is likely Gregson will not be on set for a number of months.
