Speaking to RTE’s This Week in Politics programme, Coveney said the events on Saturday wasn’t a legitimate protest but instead it was a group of people who were intent on thuggery and intimidation of the Gardai.
Coveney also said that although people have the right to protest what happened on Saturday wasn’t acceptable.
He added that he hope’s that the courts will deal with those who fired fireworks at Gardai as quickly as possible.
