The UK is this evening reporting its highest daily case increase since late July, with over 45,000 new infections detected over the past 24h.
Official figures say that there have been 45,066 new cases confirmed in that period of time.
According to health authorities, people should expect ‘an exceptionally difficult’ winter, perhaps hinting at new lockdowns.
