Covid-19: British health authorities say that the R number might have gone past 1 in some areas

British health authorities are today saying that the R number might have gone past 1 in some areas of the country.

The R number indicates the virus’ reproduction rate. Ideally, this number should be smaller than 1.

Statistics show that the R number remains at between 0.7 and 0.9 across the entire UK, but some localized areas might see a higher number, which means more new cases.
