Covid-19: British scientist calls for a delay in ending lockdown ‘for a few weeks’ to deal with the Indian variant

A leading British scientist is calling for a delay in ending lockdown ‘for a few weeks’ to deal with the Indian variant.

According to Professor Ravi Gupta, a member of the New and Emerging Respiratory Virus Threats Advisory Group (Nervtag), the scheduled June 21 date should be pushed back as the country is under threat by the highly contagious Indian coronavirus variant.

Mr. Gupta is the latest in a number of people from the scientific and medical community to call for a delay in ending lockdown.
