Concerns are rapidly growing about a new resurgence of the coronavirus across the UK, after the R number grows to between 0.8 and 1.
The R number indicates the virus’ transmission rate. 1 or above spells bad news.
The figure is believed to have risen from last week’s 0.7-0.9.
Covid-19 is currently resurging across much of Europe, with France and Germany imposing lockdowns again this week.
