Gardai have now been granted powers to shut down pubs found to be in breach of Covid-19 guidelines.
The Criminal Justice Enforcement Powers Covid-19 Bill, signed into law by President Michael D. Higgins, enables Gardai to issue closure orders for those pubs that flout regulations.
Covid-19 has so far killed 1,781 people in Ireland.
