The Government will reportedly cap the maximum fine for breaching restrictions to €500.
The on-the-spot fine can be issued for a variety of reasons: Failing to wear a face mask in designated areas, traveling beyond the 5km limit, etc.
Enforcement legislation the €500 will be in place from midnight on Wednesday.
