India is facing a new post-Covid biological threat in the form of ‘black fungus’ infections.
Health authorities are now detecting a rise in mucormycosis, a relatively rare but potentially deadly infection affecting both patients with Covid disease and those who recently recovered from the primary infection.
Official figures say that no fewer than 9,000 cases of this new threat have so far been detected.
