Ireland faces another six weeks of Level 5 lockdown as the mutant coronavirus strain ravages the country.

According to health authorities, the strain first detected in the UK now accounts for around 60% of infections here.

Ireland’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Tony Holohan, said yesterday that he expects the mortality rate to increase significantly over the coming days and weeks.
