The grim news follows reports of permanent, multi-organ damage caused by the disease among some patients in Lombardy, Italy’s hardest-hit region.
Symptoms like psychosis, insomnia, kidney disease, spinal infections, strokes, chronic tiredness, and mobility issues are among those reported, leading to fears that some survivors might suffer permanent health problems for the rest of their lives.
