
A top Irish professor has said that pubs are some of the ‘riskiest places to be’ during the pandemic.
Luke O’Neill, a professor of biochemistry at Trinity College, is recommending that people avoid pubs as these premises represent the ‘perfect breeding ground’ for infectious agents such as Covid-19.
Some pubs reopened across Ireland last week, leading to chaotic scenes with little or no social distancing or other safety guidelines. Many now fear a sharp increase in infection numbers over the next 14 days.
