Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoue has hinted at upcoming cuts to the emergency Covid-19 payment, just days after he confirmed that ministers would not take a pay cut during the crisis.

The current €350 weekly payment is being paid to almost 600,000 people. However, the minister said that the Government will make a decision about reducing the payment ‘soon.’

The minister did not go into specifics as to how much would the payment be reduced by.
