Covid-19: New research appears to show that the 16-34 age group are currently bearing the brunt of new coronavirus infections in Ireland

New research appears to show that the 16-34 age group is currently bearing the brunt of new coronavirus infections in Ireland.

Official figures say that there were 1,837 new cases today alone, the highest daily figure since mid-January of this year. There is no breakdown of figures between vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals, though it recently emerged that the Delta variant can infect individuals in both cohorts, regardless of vaccination status, and all can spread the disease equally.

It is understood that there currently are 30 people in intensive care with severe coronavirus-induced disease across Ireland, but again there is no breakdown of vaccination status.
