No study has confirmed that “anyone who’s ever had a cold is sufficiently protected against coronavirus”

Please note – TheJournal.ie carried out a factcheck on this article and concluded that the representation of the findings was not entirely accurate and was misunderstood by TheLiberal.ie.  To the best of our knowledge, no study has confirmed that “anyone who’s ever had a cold is sufficiently protected against coronavirus” and it is not correct to say “that vaccines were never required to begin with for most people”.

The full factcheck by TheJournal.ie can be read here.

A new study has claimed that T cells from the common cold are effective against coronavirus, however that is not the case.

The study, published by Imperial College London researchers, seems to imply that anyone who’s ever had a cold is sufficiently protected against coronavirus, but that appears to not be the case, according to TheJournal.ie’s factcheck.

Our original article stated that this further implies that vaccines were never required to begin with for most people, however that is not the case.
