The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) has said that it could be up to six weeks before daily infections decrease to around 100.
According to Professor Philip Nolan at the agency, the numbers remain high but there are fewer hospitalizations.
The Government recently confirmed that lockdown restrictions will remain in effect until Easter at least.
