The number of coronavirus cases in Italy has risen to 1,576 over the past 24 hours, prompting authorities to issue an urgent warning for people to avoid the affected areas if at all possible. Foreign authorities have also advised against all non-essential travel to the country.
Thirty-four people have now died from the disease in Italy.
