The coronavirus outbreak situation in northern regions of Italy is deteriorating rapidly, after reports of a seventh death.
Cases of the disease rose at an alarming rate over the weekend, surpassing 200 by Monday morning.
Twelve towns across the Lombardy region have been put a lockdown in an effort to contain the spread of the virus, which has killed over 2,500 people worldwide and infected almost 80,000.
Earlier today, medical experts warned that the outbreak is inching closer to reaching a ‘tipping point’, the moment when the disease can no longer be contained, and a global pandemic is declared.
