The Irish Government’s ineptitude to do the simplest tasks is once again in the spotlight, as people are now being urged to avoid calling the Covid helpline at all costs, due to waiting times of up to 4 hours.
It is understood that fewer than 3,000 calls were answered, out of more than 40,000 inbound calls.
The Government has accepted that the call center ‘has not been able to meet demand.’
