Phase 2 of lockdown easing, which began today, has prompted a significant reduction in the number of people claiming the emergency €350 weekly payment.
The latest figures show that the number of claimants has been reduced by almost 90,000 (about 15%) since the peak of the unemployment situation caused by Covid-19.
Thousands of workers returned to work today, but shopping centres, pubs, and many other places of employment remain shut.
