Covid-19: Rio’s Carnival cancelled for the first time in over a century due to the pandemic




Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival has been cancelled for the first time in over a century due to the pandemic.

The landmark event was due to be held in February 2021, but it will now not go ahead.

Brazil remains one of the worst-hit countries in the world, with over 4.7m reported cases and over 141,000 deaths so far.
