Covid-19: Teenager with no known underlying conditions dies from new disease linked to coronavirus

A teenager with no known underlying health conditions has died from a new disease linked to coronavirus.

The teenager, believed to be a male, died at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital in recent days. No fewer than 40 other children and young teens have been treated for a rare ‘hyper inflammatory’ syndrome that doctors believe to be linked to Covid-19.

The novel illness displays symptoms similar to Kawasaki disease, which is usually restricted to Asian countries and mostly affects children under five.

Some of the children affected in the London cluster had antibodies for Covid-19, even though their tests for the disease came back negative.
