The UK has reported over 45,000 new coronavirus infections over the past 24h.
Official figures say that there have been 45,533 new cases confirmed in that period.
Health authorities have also reported 1,243 additional Covid-19-related deaths, the second-largest daily death toll since the start of the pandemic.
