The United States has immediately halted the administration of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine due to blood clot formation.
It is understood that no fewer than six people who recently took the vaccine developed clots shortly afterwards. At least one person died, and a second is in a critical condition in hospital. The age of the six people ranged from 18-48.
This is the second coronavirus vaccine to be associated with blood clotting events, following similar reports associated with the AstraZeneca vaccine.
