Criminal probe opened into the garda shooting of George Nkencho




The Gardai have announced that they are launching a criminal investigation into the death of George Nkencho, who was shot and killed by armed Garda after the allegedly tried to stab them with a knife following an alleged vicious assault on a shop manager.

Nkencho’s death sparked protests and a day of unprecedented violence and mayhem on the streets of Blanchardstown.

Nkencho’s younger brother Emmanuel led angry crowds to Blanchardstown Garda Station before giving a speech giving out angrily about the shooting.

The mob was joined by a number of TDs in demanding a full investigation into the shooting and some TDs openly questioned the motives of the shooting on their social media platforms.

The Nkencho’s family are said to be happy with the probe starting.
