Crowd sings “A Woman’s Heart” at vigil to commemorate Ashling Murphy in Dublin as crowds gather all over the country

Vigils have taken place all over the country to commemorate Ashling Murphy who was murdered in Offaly on Wednesday.

According to RTE, thousands of people attended the vigils which were organised by members of the public who wanted to show their support for Ms. Murphy’s family, who attended a vigil at Kilcormac/Killoughey GAA Club where prayers were said and traditional music played.

A large crowd gathered at Dail Eireann where a minute’s silence was held.  Ashling’s close friend Grace Corrigan spoke at the vigil, sharing memories of Ashling and their friendship.  The vigil ended with those in attendance singing “A Woman’s Heart” together.

A number of local authorities have announced that they have set up condolence books online so that members of the public can pay their respects to Ashling’s family.
