Great Scott! Customs at Dublin Port seize 1,500 faulty hoverboards this afternoon

It has been reported that custom officals at Dublin Port have seized 1,500 hoverboards this afternoon.

It is believed the hoverboards were seized as the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission have deemed dangerous and they pose a number of “significant safety concerns”. A spokesperson for the Commission has said they have been informed that there are currently a significant number unsafe hoverboards being sold across Europe and as result they have launched their own personal investigation into the safety of the products.

It is believed the 1,400 hoverboards seized today were subsequently checked an a number of safety concerns were identified relating to faulty equipment including the charger and battery packs. Meanwhile the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission have avidsed anyone buying a hoverboard to ensure it has a genuine CE mark and to get them from a reputable retailer.
