Cuteness overload – German Shepherd puppies join police force

Friday the 13th turned out to be a lucky day for one Police Dog Unit in the UK when they were happy to welcome a litter of tiny German Shepherd puppies.

According to the Metro, the puppies were born to Sally and Mati, police dogs on the force and at eight weeks old, they are ready to join the force.

The puppies haven’t been named yet but Inspector Jason Knight told the Metro “they don’t have names yet, but once they are homed, their new handlers will give them a name and start to train them.”

Training the puppies involves playing games like “tug of war with a rag” to help them get used to chasing down criminals in the future. They’ll also need to get used to dealing with the public so they’ll be brought to airports and other places where there are lots of people. It’s hoped that they’ll be able to deal with crowd disorders and help their trainers deal with other public order offences.

Of course, they’ll have to grow up quite a bit because at the moment they’re just too tiny and cute to frighten anyone!
