Convicted sex offenders could soon be electronically tagged upon their release from prison.
The new proposals which are to be brought before the cabinet this afternoon by the Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan, those who are released after serving their sentence could be tagged if a judge deems they must be closely monitored.
According to RTÉ News, the new plan is just one of many proposals that is being discussed in regards to the monitoring of offenders.
It is expected that the new proposals will be overwhelmingly supported in the Dáil, however it may take some time before a system is introduced as it would have to be carefully examined.
