Enda Kenny has been defeated again in his bid to be returned as Taoiseach.

The ongoing voting in the Dail today has seen Kenny’s nomination defeated 77 to 52.

It’s now Fianna Fail’s Micheal Martin’s time to see if he can gather enough support, but it’s looking unlikely as most independents are said to abstaining from voting.

The inevitable looks like we’ll be heading back to the polls within a month if no conclusion occurs today.

Update: Micheal Martin has also not been successful in his proposal for Taoiseach, being defeated 91 to 43.
