Deal reached between unions and the government will see salary increase for public employees

Following a deal reached between unions and the government, public employees will get a salary increase of 10.25 percent spread over the course of 2.5 years, reports Breaking News.

The final plans for the €3.6 billion financial package, which is divided across four budgets, are being finalised by government officials.

At the Lansdowne House headquarters of the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC), negotiations on the settlement continued into the early hours of Friday morning, reports Breaking News.

The recommendations include a 10.25 percent salary increase over 2.5 years for 385,000 public employees.

Kevin Callinan, general secretary of the Fórsa union, said on Friday: “Well, just in the last few minutes the congress group has a finalised agreement with the Government side. I am conscious that some of our non-congress associations are still in discussion in relation to various matters and I’d like to respect that. We’ve worked closely with the Garda associations and the non-congress health unions,” reports Breaking News.
