The Department of Social Protection have revealed that they have received Almost 160,000 applications for the much debated €100 water conservation grant.
The news comes as the Department say they are contacting every household who has registered with Irish Water before the 30th June and is inviting those who have not applied to apply immediately.
The Department issued a brief statement saying: “To date 770,000 letters have been delivered and up until early this afternoon 159,500 applications for the grant have been submitted. The Department would encourage eligible householders to apply for the grant as soon as possible after they receive their letter”.
It is believed the closing date for those who wish to avail of the grant is October 8th.
