4,000 refugees will be housed in Ireland

Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald has this morning announced that Ireland will take in 4,000 refugees.

As part of the Irish Refugee Protection Programme, a number of reception and orientation centres will be setup around the country.

It is understood that the first group of refugees will arrive within weeks, with more arriving before the end of the year.

In a statement, the Justice Minister said “It is only right that we are do all we can as a nation to help.”
