Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn calls on people not to meet up on St Patrick’s Day

The Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn has called on the public not to meet up on St Patrick’s Day.

Speaking at the National Public Health Emergency Team briefing, Dr Glynn said that the advice is being issued as the message has to remain consistent.

Dr Glynn said that people should not be meeting up over takeaway pints or buying a few cans in a shop and meeting elsewhere.

The Deputy Chief Medical Officer also said that people should also not be gathering for public protests as now is not the time to host or attend such gatherings.

Glynn said the advice is being issued as we know what can happen once the disease spreads and none of us wants it to happen.
