As the graffiti in Belfast involving Leo Varadkar reached national news this weekend, another sectarian attack was carried out on a Church in Limavady, County Derry, reports Catholic Arena.

The congregation of Saint Mary’s Church awoke on Sunday morning to find their main Church doors daubed with white paint with the initials K A T which means KILL ALL TAIGS.
“TAIGS” is a derogatory term for Catholic nationalists.

According to locals, The Liberal was told that the entrance doors were also dubbed with UDA (Ulster Defence Force) and UVF (Ulster Volunteer Force) which are both loyalist paramilitary groups.

A large crucifix on the grounds of Saint Mary’s Church was also vandalised with the slogan KAT (Kill All TAIGS).

Parish priest Monsignor Bryan McCanny condemned the attack. He said there was “a certain amount of distress that it should happen to a church building”.

“We know it’s not representative of any of the other church communities in Limavady,” he told the BBC.

The attack has been roundly condemned by the SDLP and DUP.
