A garda is recovering in hospital tonight after he was badly beaten in Dublin early this morning.
Two gardai were chasing a man on foot down a street in Ballinteer this morning at 6am. It’s believed the man had stolen a car.
One of the gardai followed the man into a house and was attempting to arrest him when 7 men came out of the house and viciously beat the garda around the head and stabbed him in the left leg.
The garda in his 30’s and stationed in Dundrum was eventually rescued by backup gardai who got to the scene and arrested two of the 7 men aged 18 and 20.
The garda is said to be in a stable condition tonight in hospital.
