In what can only be described as a truly shocking state of affairs in Ireland in 2022, two old ladies were in a queue in Penneys holding a number of hot water bottles.
A reader of The Liberal contacted us to say that they overheard the pair saying how they’re stocking up on hot water bottles to use while sitting on the couch watching television and to have lying beside them in bed this winter.
One said to the other:
“Well, I know I won’t be able to afford the heating this year, fuel prices are just too high. I thought of this idea during the heatwave in the summer would you believe.”
While the other replied:
“It’s a great idea, they’ll keep us warm and we can still have a few pound in our purse. It’s the only way to keep warm this winter”.
The government has let this pair of old Irish ladies drastically down. There is no words to describe the disgraceful predicament these OAPs are left in – trying to stay warm by being forced to buy hot water bottles so they can sit and lie with during the cold winter nights.
