Gardaí have revealed that there has been 90 coughing or spitting attacks against officers in the past two months.
In a statement An Garda Siochana revealed that from April 8th and June 6th there has been 90 such incidents.
They also revealed that officers have been forced to use anti spit guards on 70 occasions.
Although the number of incidents are in decline, Gardai say they are still subjected to such incidents which is a cause for concern.
They added that there has been 82 prosecutions for those who have committed such acts.
