Boy killed in Westmeath car crash was a sixth class student – GSOC are investigating




The Delvin and Athboy communities are coming together over the death of a 13-yr-old boy in a car accident on Wednesday morning.

Five teenagers were in a Hyundai I-10 car when it crashed into Lisclougher Great near Delvin at  2:15am.

The 13-yr-old boy named as Joseph Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene.

It’s understood that he was a sixth class student at Clonmellon and was due to start secondary school at Athboy in September.

Another 15-year-old boy was seriously injured and remains in critical condition at Mullingar Regional Hospital.

Three other teens from the Athboy, Archerstown and Delvin areas were also seriously injured.

Gardai say that a GSOC investigation into the crash is ongoing.
