
The latest political opinion poll shows Social Democrats leader Holly Cairns has emerged as the most popular party leader in the country.
The result is a further boost for the party following Daniel Ennis’s victory in the recent Dublin Central by-election, which brought the Social Democrats’ number of sitting TDs to 12, reports Breaking News.
Cork South-West TD Cairns has a personal approval rating of 47 in the Business Post/Red C poll.
Sinn Féin president Mary Lou McDonald is the second most popular leader with an approval rating of 46, but her party has dropped four points to 21% in the same poll following disappointing results in the recent by-elections, reports Breaking News.
Sinn Féin remains the most popular party in the country, with Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil on 17% and 15% respectively.
The Social Democrats are continuing to gain support, rising two points to 10%, reports Breaking News.
Independent Ireland member and Cork South-West TD Michael Collins is on an approval rating of 45, placing him as the third most popular political leader in the country according to the poll.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin recorded an approval rating of 32 in the same survey, reports Breaking News.
