Do you believe them? Sinn Fein claim they’d employ hundreds of GPs directly by the State

According to a Sinn Féin healthcare proposal that is scheduled for publication next week, the State would directly hire hundreds of general practitioners, reports RTE.

The party promises to go forward with a public GP contract within the first 100 days of taking office if elected to government.

David Cullinane, Sinn Féin’s health spokesman, worked with patients, healthcare professionals, and medical professionals for two years before the plan was created, reports RTE.

As part of a €852 million investment plan, it pledges to enhance after-hours healthcare and add 250 public general practitioners.

According to the party, there would be a 60% increase in GP training spots and an employment guarantee for Irish healthcare graduates, reports RTE.

Additionally, Sinn Féin intends to form a rural health commission whose job it would be to create a rural health policy for the next 10 years.

In addition to enhancing access to big hospitals and ambulance services, this would boost local health services, reports RTE.
