Opponent Kamala Harris, a Democrat, offered to debate Donald Trump again, but the US presidential contender said it was “too late” to accept, reports RTE.
Early voting is already underway in three states. “The problem with another debate is that it’s just too late, voting has already started,” the Republican stated during a rally in North Carolina, reports RTE.
According to the Democratic candidate’s team, US Vice President Kamala Harris had earlier accepted an offer from CNN to take part in a debate on October 23 and hoped that Republican opponent Donald Trump would challenge her once more less than two weeks before the presidential election on November 5.

“Vice President Harris is ready for another opportunity to share a stage with Donald Trump, and she has accepted CNN’s invitation to a debate on 23 October, Donald Trump should have no problem agreeing to this debate,” Jen O’Malley Dillon, the chair of the Harris campaign, said in a statement, reports RTE.
On September 10, Ms. Harris and Mr. Trump squared off in their first debate, which polls indicated was won by the Democratic candidate.
Prior to the election, Mr. Trump declared last week that he would not take part in another debate with Senator Harris.
The former president said last Thursday on his social media platform Truth Social, “THERE WILL BE NO THIRD DEBATE!,” reports RTE.
Prior to his clash with Ms. Harris in June, Mr. Trump engaged in a debate with President Joe Biden.
Democrats were alarmed by Mr. Biden’s unsteady performance in that debate, which caused strategists to wonder if their party ought to make the historic decision to replace the 81-year-old president as their nominee, reports RTE.
